Picture this, a beautiful sunny day, dry trails and all day to play! You would think more of the mtb-borders crew would have turned up for a ride round the Inners XC course eh ?? As it happened only seven rides arrived, with only five actually doing the cross country! Sniperkona and scaffmonkeysteve opting for the thrills and big air off the downhill course for a change.

The famous five set of at a relaxed pace with Rossi and b1rac leading the way up the first climbs off the day. The test doesn’t start until you reach the first few rock steps and have to use some skill to negotiate them without landing on the deck.

After a short regroup it was into the twisty singletrack and down towards the bomb-hole, where you can imagine some were brave and some threw caution to the wind !!

The next forest road climb drags you up into a whole new level and starts gently entering the trees again. Switchback after switchback and we are really climbing now! Heading up to the point where you can either take a shortcut or carry on right upto the summit of the Minch Moor, we paused to let some folks catch up only to discover a new lycra clad person on our tail! Couldn’t be one off us wearing that much lycra! He carried on his merry way and we finished the minch moor climb with some very relieved faces on a couple of the members (you know who you are).

A quick snack stop and we were off on the wicked descent down to the Point of Resolution, and faster paced singletrack action.

Deciding to miss out Plorra Craig and head for some downhill trails, meeting up with the SK and Steve before Caddon Bank. Here we split again with four heading down caddon Bank and three heading Down what’s now know as “Janes Lane” (cheers Dunks) and the final blast down to the car park to swap stories of who jibbed the drop-offs and who took the chicken routes.

I think everyone there was surprised how fast we managed to get round this time, and someone even mentioned it might be because pinkeye wasn’t there, but I don’t think there was any truth in that fact !
We all had a blast and can’t wait till the next time!
