Michelin All Mountain - Dual Compound These tyres look very strange with their Grey colour, but they grip very well. Tried them in wet slippy conditions over roots and rocks and they seem to grip as well or slightly better than others I have tried. The tyre tread pattern is unique in that it has a serated edge to give that extra bit of grip whilst cornering. As far a wear goes I dont think they will wear to well if used on tarmac but who wants to ride on tarmac anyway ! Only available with Kevlar bead they weigh in at a light 560g Rating
Maxxis Larsen TT XC At first glance these tyres don’t look like they would cope with much, but I was pleasantly surprised ! They coped well on loose descents and over off camber roots with ease. Great for climbing with their fast rolling ramped knobs. Not as good as some in the wet but as long as it isnt deep mud they still perform as well as many others. Pumped up to the maximum pressure they feel like slick tyres on forest roads. They are very light weight with the kevlar bead and at 2.0 wide they feel fast ! Rating
I bought these tyres for our nice British winters, and also they come Tubeless ready to go straight out the box. They do exactly what it says on the Tin. They are great when its muddy, but I found them a bit unstable on wet stoney surfaces of our local man-made 7 Stanes trails. Now the weather has dried out the trails I expected to have to stick the summer tyres on, but have stuck with these as they seem to hook up very well. However they are starting to show some wear. Overall a good winter tyre but get them off before the trails dry out to stop them wearing out quickly.
